SES Advisors and SFE&G were pleased to sponsor and speak at The ESOP Association's 31st Annual ESOP Conference in Washington, D.C. on May 13-14, 2008.
The ESOP Association's Annual Conference is one of the largest gatherings of ESOP advocates in the U.S., and is the premier "across-the-board" conference on ESOPs, dealing with the human side of ESOPs as well as technical and operational issues.

This session discussed the fiduciary, valuation and related legal issues that confront ESOP companies when they are buffeted by financial difficulties.

Day Two - 5/14/08, 9:00 - 10:10 a.m. Jim Steiker moderated a session on "Releveraging - A Tool for Managing Mature ESOPs."
Releveraging is complicated, but it can help mature ESOP companies manage liquidity and ownership transition issues, including repurchase obligations and the problem of "haves and have-nots" among the ESOP participants. This session will describe how releveraging works, what you can accomplish by releveraging, and why you should (or shouldn't) do it.
